Welcome to another edition of Ringside Politics with Jeff Crouere
Today’s Hot Topics:
1) Arizona’s Republican Party chairwoman appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court as part of a long-shot effort to nullify Joe Biden’s victory there in the presidential election, according to a filing posted online by a Democratic lawyer.
The filing comes as the high court weighs a similarly improbable bid by Texas to invalidate voters’ selection of Biden in four pivotal states, and reverse President Donald Trump’s election defeat. The court could act at any point in that case.
2) In a rant bizarre even by Jon Voight standards, the Ray Donovan actor gives voice to evidence-free allegations that the victory of now-President-Elect Joe Biden was “a lie.”
Seated and seeming to read from cue cards to his left, Voight says in a tweeted video, “My fellow Americans, I stand here with all the feelings I do, disgusted with this lie that Biden has been chosen. As if we all don’t know the truth. And when one tries to deceive, we know that one can’t get away with it, there will be a price to pay.”
Voight, a longtime staunch supporter of Donald Trump, goes on to say, “The ones who are jumping for joy now are jumping toward the horror they will be in for because I know that the promises being made from the left to the American people will never come to be.
3) In case conspiracy Karen’s testimony in front of a Michigan House Oversight Committee wasn’t wild enough, Team Trump has a new ally in its corner ready to sniff out all the non-existent voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Jesse Morgan, who claims to work as a contract truck driver for the United States Postal Service, says he allegedly drove a truck full of thousands of mail-in ballots from New York to Pennsylvania that helped President-elect Joe Biden win the election.
Morgan claims he inadvertently drove the more than 300,000 “phony” ballots across state lines, helping Biden win the key battleground state of Pennsylvania. “I know I saw ballots with return addresses filled out,” Morgan said at the event hosted by the right-wing Thomas More Center. The event sought to continue propping up conspiracy theories of widespread voter fraud in the election. Morgan added that he saw “thousands of [ballots], thousands.”

4) Sen. Ted Cruz will introduce legislation cutting off Defense Department assistance for US movie studios that permit China to censor their content, he announced.
Cruz (R-Texas) said the bill, called the “Stopping Censorship, Restoring Integrity, Protecting Talkies” Act, would bar Hollywood studios from doing business with the Pentagon if they accommodate Chinese censors.
It is common for major Hollywood films to work with the Pentagon in order use Defense Department assets such as jets, tanks or naval bases. Cruz’s legislation would prohibit the DOD from providing access to such assets to US studios that censor films for screening in the Communist nation.
“For too long, Hollywood has been complicit in China’s censorship and propaganda in the name of bigger profits. The SCRIPT Act will serve as a wake up call by forcing Hollywood studios to choose between the assistance they need from the American government and the dollars they want from China,” the Texas Republican said in a statement.
